FML and GSA Collaborate to train agriculture students

As we continue to build capacity and provide client-driven solutions with the aim towards sustainable growth, Farfan and Mendes Ltd., in collaboration with the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) trained approximately 62 students and farmworkers on the use, care, and maintenance of the STIHL brush cutter. This training was conducted at the GSA’s Mon Repos campus, to equip students and young agriculturists with knowledge and skills to encourage innovative use, care, and management of STIHL equipment as a step towards the enhancement of productivity in the agriculture Sector.

The training was conducted by Mr. Oneil Sam, technical personnel at Farfan and Mendes, and commenced with a demonstration and overview of checks that must be carried out before starting and using the equipment, which includes fuel, filters, length of nylon, grease for the gear head, etc. During this session, students were able to practically identify serviceable and replaceable parts that would deteriorate upon continuous usage of the equipment. This session provided the young agriculturist with the tools and expertise necessary to care better and use the STIHL brushcutter which would then extend the lifetime of the equipment. The session was very interactive since most students utilize this equipment during their daily farm training practical sessions at the institution.
