Farfan and Mendes and USAID funded (CAPA) Pruning Equipment Training
Farfan and Mendes and USAID funded Caribbean Agricultural Productivity improvement Activity (CAPA)Pruning Equipment Training
Farfan and Mendes, in collaboration with the Caribbean Agriculture Productivity improvement Activity (CAPA), implemented by Improving Economies for Stronger Communities (IECS) and funded by USAID, trained approximately fifteen (15) cherry farmers on the proper use and care of STIHL battery-powered GTA 26 pruners in Laluni, Region #4. The primary goal of the session was to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills to achieve easier and more efficient pruning, an essential good agricultural practice (GAP) in cherry production.
The Demonstration Farm-based Training was hosted by Mrs. Radha Singh at CAPA's Cherry Lead Farmer's demonstration plot. During the session, participants had the opportunity to practically use the equipment to prune cherry plants in a cherry field in Laluni. These sessions provided farmers with the tools and expertise necessary to implement efficient agricultural practices, enhancing their productivity and sustainability.
The training was facilitated by Rory Holder, a technical specialist and product trainer at Farfan and Mendes. This initiative aligns with FML's goals of building capacity and providing client-driven solutions for sustainable growth, as well as CAPA's objectives of improving the productivity and marketability of smallholder farmers
